Is Zcash mining profitable in September 2026?

Table of Contents

Short answer: yes, Zcash mining is more than profitable in September 2026. Especially at cheap power, on ZEC’s today’s numbers.

Zcash mining profit is revenue minus power. Revenue is your hashrate’s share of the block reward times the ZEC price. Power is watts times hours times your rate. So:

  • ZEC price. Around €1000 today. It was €30 a year ago
  • Network difficulty. Set your share. It has roughly doubled since May 2026
  • Your electricity price. The only one you control

Everything else (pool fee, hardware cost) is secondary. Get these three right and the calculator is just arithmetic.

What each machine Z15, Z15K and Z15 Pro earns today

All three machines mine Zcash (ZEC) using the Equihash algorithm. At current ZEC prices and network difficulty:

Z15 Pro (840 KSol/s, 2,780W)

  • Estimated daily profit: ~€40-48/day
  • Most efficient at 3.31 J/kSol, meaning you get the most hashrate per watt
  • The top earner and the best long-term performer

Z15K (525 KSol/s, 2,483W)

  • Estimated daily profit: ~€17-22/day
  • Least efficient of the three at 4.73 J/kSol
  • However, the significantly lower purchase price makes the ROI timeline competitive

Z15 (420 KSol/s, 1,510W)

  • Estimated daily profit: ~€13-15/day
  • Lowest power draw of the three, keeping electricity costs minimal
  • Good entry point, but earnings reflect the lower hashrate

These figures fluctuate daily based on the ZEC price and network difficulty. Always check live profitability at www.asicminervalue.com before making a purchase decision.

What if ZEC halves and mining difficulty happens?

Same arithmetic, same outcome. A 50% price drop with flat difficulty halves gross revenue while power stays fixed. Hosted machines survive comfortably; home-run machines mostly don’t. Difficulty doubles and ZEC halves: output quartered. At €0.06/kWh a Z15K grosses about €6.10 a day against €3.58 in power. At any residential rate it’s a loss. This is the scenario a cautious buyer should be able to live with, because it’s roughly what 2022 to 2024 looked like.

What if ZEC keeps rising?

Then everything above gets better and the payback windows shrink. We’re not going to model it, because if you’re buying a miner on the assumption the coin goes up, you’ve already made your decision and the maths is decoration.

So is ZEC mining profitable?

At €0.06/kWh: yes in every scenario except a combined crash, and even then it’s marginally positive. Hardware payback is months at today’s numbers and around a year in the bad case.

At €0.12/kWh: yes today, marginal if difficulty doubles.

At €0.25/kWh: yes today on the Pro and Z15, thin on the Z15K, and negative on all three in a downturn.

The pattern is the point. The profitable question isn’t really about the coin or the machine. It’s about power. That’s why we’re in Norway; our facility runs at €0.059/kWh on hydro. ASIC hosting explained covers how it works, and Zcash mining electricity cost goes into why this number dominates.

Is Zcash mining profitable in 2026?

Yes at electricity below about €0.10/kWh on September 2026 numbers. Marginal to negative at typical European residential rates in a downturn.

Roughly €17 (Z15), €21 (Z15K) or €35 (Z15 Pro) net at €0.06/kWh on today’s snapshot.

Five to six months for a new Z15K or Z15 Pro at hosted power on today’s numbers; about a year if difficulty doubles.

Difficulty growth. It has roughly doubled in four months and halves your output when it does.

Under €0.10/kWh to be comfortable; under €0.06 to survive a downturn.
